His Strength Made Strong In My Weakness

Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand [Isaiah 41:10]

Our Creator God in his infinite wisdom and love chose to create us knowing full well that we would choose our ways over his. We human beings have a perverse natural tendency to try and live out of our own strength. But God who created us knows our weakness. He knows that we are absolutely incapable of making it on our own – apart from him we can do nothing!

The beauty of the gospel is that as believers we no longer have to try and live apart from him. Through the death of Jesus, we are now one with Christ. We have been saved from having to try and do life on our own, in our own strength. The apostle Paul chose to boast of his weakness because he knew of the steadfast strength of God in his own life: Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me [2 Cor 12:9]. Paul knew that his success was solely by the strength of his God.

How incredible is the heart of God that he would choose to share with us his own strength! Your heavenly Father promises his strength to you today. You have a strong God who loves you and is for you. His strength is always available to you – his strength is made strong in your weakness. All you have to do is choose his ways over your own. Acknowledge your weakness, but as you do, learn to lean on the incredible strength of your heavenly Father and rest in his everlasting arms.
