Everyone must submit to governing authorities. For all authority comes from God, and those in positions of authority have been placed there by God.” – Romans 13:1 NLT

A historic moment. India formally adopts the Constitution. India becomes an independent republic. Happy Republic Day to our India!
The Constitution of India is a unique constitution. It is the largest written  democratic constitution of the world. It was fully debated and duly enacted after 2 years, 11 months and 18 days. It consists of 395 Articles divided into 22 Parts with 12 Schedules and 94 constitutional amendments(For your information, US Constitution has only 7 Articles and the French Constitution has 89 Articles)
The Preamble of the Constitution is a well drafted document which states the philosophy of the constitution. It declares India to be a Sovereign Socialist Secular Democratic Republic and a welfare state committed to secure justice, liberty, and equality for the people and for promoting fraternity, the dignity of the individual, and unity and integrity of the nation.

70 years later, as we celebrate our India, we are called to follow 3 important steps:
  • CELEBRATE: Celebrate and praise God for His faithfulness on our beloved nation of India. We thank God for the founders of our Constitution and the foresight and clarity to beautifully present an idea of India that seeks to unite people regardless of caste, creed, colour, community or religion.
  • PRAY: Commit to pray daily for our incredible India. Our fervent prayers to bless our neighbours and friends to be image-bearers of the living God with no discrimination on basis of any preconceived ideas or influences.
  • CARE: Cast the net of God’s care over our beautiful India. Take  bold acts of faith coupled with small steps of faithfulness.
Our India. God’s India. Let’s bless this beautiful nation to be all that God desires it be in our lifetime and for future generations.
